Sometimes I read.

So, I read some books last year.

Did I mention I like to read?

Although, let's be serious. That second to last book? I didn't read so much as stare at the cover.

Of all the books I read last year, I only gave five of 'em five stars. Three of those included the Hunger Games trilogy. Peeps, if you're only going to read one book this year, please read The Hunger Games. (Which means you'll have to read three books this year, 'cause you won't be able to not continue after the first one, but it's totally worth it. They are all so, so good.)

Now, I find myself in between books and without a clear sense of where to go next. Sure, I have a "to be read" pile, but I'm just not feeling any of them right now. Suggestions?

  1. Sorry...I won't be any help with this...but WOW ~ your list is impressive!! That is a lot of books!! Reading has been the absolute last thing I wanted to do this past year...as soon as I picked up a book, I was fast asleep. Sad really because I enjoy reading. But....I picked up a book on Saturday and finished it on Sunday without dozing off once..in fact, woke up early and stayed in bed until late Sunday morning reading. I was quite proud of my accomplishment. Oddly enough, you were the one person I wanted to tell ~ the first book I read this year was "Twilight"....and I really liked it. :)

  2. i am currently reading The heart is a lonely hunter (slowly) by Carson McCullers and the Brave by Nicholas Evans. i just finished the Graveyard Book by Neil Gaimon (highly recommend) and Looking for Alaska by John Green (eh, not bad). on my list to read is I am Four by Pittacus Lore, it's a young adult science fiction and is being turned into a movie & is part of a series.

  3. I got all wild and adventurous last week and read Quickie by James Patterson. A review on the cover said it was erotic. It's not but it is a really excellent read with some steamy aspects. If it makes you feel any better I read nothing but smut books and I average 300 pages a day. Every day. I don't think I could make up a collage like yours, I'd scare myself even. If you want seriously hard core trash try Lora Leigh. Guaranteed to make you blush.

  4. Anne Bishope is one of my all time faves (specifically the dark jewels books). The problem is the opening chapters are often off putting to people. It's dark, erotic, violent, funny, and beautiful writing that I can't get enough of. And I have never read a romance novel more *ahem* exciting than her books- because when the protagonists are together... smokin hot. And it's not just lovers- the family dynamics are point on and at times lol.A warning that the eroticism and violence mix a lot in the first books, because when the antagonists are with the protagonists... well, that is a whole level of violence that has a name I can't think of but I'm sure I saw an episode of CSI with it involved.

My brother-in-law just had his first novella published recently. It's titled Contrast of Contradiction. It's a book that'll make you think about who you are and the state of the people and the world around us. It's not too deep, just enough to make you wonder. I'm about halfway through and so far so good! It's on amazon.com and booksamillion.com. He's also in the process of converting it into an ebook for all those kindle-carrying people out there.
