They have one thing going for them.

I don't like Birds of Paradise and I don't like this photo. But I sure would like to take all those colors and plaster them over the walls of our apartment.

It's February 10th, peeps. I feel like this year is going by faster than any year prior. I used to think this was something only old people said. Apparently, people approaching old say it as well.

I read eight books in January; I haven't finished even one in February. But yesterday, I watched season two of Dexter so that might explain why I'm so behind in my reading. (It's not the book. It's me. And The Crazy. And this, too, shall pass.)

I counted the stubs. I've seen twelve movies since the first of the year. Did I mention that I frequently go to the movies by myself? I like to go in the morning on my days off and eat candy for breakfast.

I find it physically painful to sit through a movie without candy. I'm working on it. I seriously need to get back in shape. And I've heard a rumor that regular physical activity is, get this, good for you.

My new boss is making me crazy. He's not just irritating, but persistent. It makes for a frightening combination. One of us is going to make the others job a nightmare. I only wish I felt more confident.

It's day three of My Life on Prozac. Other than some drowsiness, I feel no difference. Well, maybe a bit more hungry than normal. But something tells me that's not the Prozac.

So, what's new with you? Read any good books lately? See any good movies? Tried any new recipes?

Have you seen Avatar? All the hype has stirred an interest and I think I'm going to see it with my mother this weekend. (The same woman who can't sit still for three minutes, let alone three hours.) My question to you is this: 3D or not? I've heard mixed reviews. Some say you have to see it in 3D, others say it's not necessary. Any suggestions?

  1. Hmm.. you bring up a good point - something I've been thinking about lately... when is old OLD? When should a person be able to start sayin' that stuff??? 49 is feelin' pretty darn OLD to me lately so Iwas just wonderin' if i'm there yet :)

  2. See Avatar in 3D - it doesn't have cheesy 3D effects. The 3D just helps to enhance the movie and give it more of a "you're really there" feel to it. I'm sure it's fine without the 3D but you will not truly appreciate the floating mountains without 3D. And let me tell you - I want to live on those floating mountains - coolest looking thing I've seen in a movie in a long time!

  3. You have been to the movies more in one month than I have been in ten years so I will be no help at all on the Avatar questions. :)Sorry to hear about the new boss...you are right, frightening combination. I worked with a woman like that once...there were times I would wish aliens would come and abduct her.I do agree with you....this year has flown by thus far ~ and I can say that cause I'm old. :)

  4. I think I'm going to try The Flat Belly Diet. My belly is seriously not flat, and I can't get a hold of myself. I weigh more than I ever have in my life (while not pregnant). It's gross. I am turning into the cliche suburban wife who lets herself go. Meanwhile, speaking of food. I am crying over this amazing soup recipe my friend gave me. I will email it to you so you can cry, too. It is to DIE for.Re:Books: I joined this mother/daughter book group and we have a meeting tomorrow. I haven't even cracked open the book and I refuse to be one of those people who never reads the book. Must get to it. Lastly, Prozac takes a while, so just hang in there.

  5. P.S. I love going to movies alone, too. Have you seen "It's Complicated"? I've seen it twice and need to go like three more times before I buy the DVD. Nancy Meyers movies are gorgeous. Now I want to repaint me entire house, but I can't tell my husband since he just repainted the whole first floor. Nad I love that Meryl Streep has a normal body and icky toes in the movie. I find that so relaxing.

  6. I'm 42 and my 5 and 3 year olds think old is 'grandma and grandpa's age' .... I'm thankful for that, but I'm sure the older the kids get, their thinking will change.

  7. Yes to Avatar, and yes to 3D. It makes a difference. (Although I couldn't really tell a difference between the 3D and the Imax version other than Imax was, well, bigger). But you should definitely see it. I'm trying to work up the courage to see a movie by myself, but I like to review it with people afterwards, so maybe it won't work.

  8. This is the most important comment I will ever leave on your blog:See it in 3D!!It's one of the best movies I've ever seen and I've seen it many times already. You'll love it!

  9. I forgot the question. Seriously, I scrolled down to click on post comment, and now have no idea what I was going to say or to what...Ok, I scrolled back up.The meds- they take time. I haven't seen a movie by myself since before I met my husband. He would be terribly hurt if I suggested I go alone, even if I wanted to see princess pony goes on a shopping spree with magic pants in paris. Right now if I went into a dark room I'd fall asleep no matter how nice the FX / plot.Ever since I got my new phone, it's harder for me to make the decision to read. Instead I end up playing all kinds of games on the phone. I have started to read during my...er...quiet time during the work day when I can't do anything else because I'm playing the part of a cow. That is a nice thing about pumping at work- legally they have to let me have the time and place to do it, and it's 15 or 20 minutes of no work.and I'll stop rambling now...

  13. Hi StephanieI just found your blog and I think it's great, very well written indeed.I spent six months on Prozac last year. I was an absolute wreck before I started taking the tablets (I would sit and sob for ten minutes every morning when I was blow-drying my hair - what was that all about?) and I was really sceptical about going to the doctor and going down the whole medication route. I just thought I should pull myself together and snap out of it, but I couldn't.Anyway, I didn't notice any definitive changes when I was taking the Prozac, but I did manage to start finding it easier to get through the day without any tears, and feeling stronger and more like my normal self. After 6 months I stopped taking them and I haven't gone backwards, despite having a really stressful time lately. I really hope the Prozac will work for you as well as it did for me - it just gave me a little help to get through some tough times.Good luck and keep blogging!Tuppencehttp://tuppennytales.blogspot.com/

  14. I have no advice on Avatar. Our movie viewing is limited to Netflix these days! How could you know like this photo?! Your crisp clean focus on the flower and that bokeh?!!! Beautiful!

  15. Excuse me. I sat through Avatar already. I didn't even realize that it was a 3-hour movie, it was so good. And I'm ready to sit through it again, tomorrow, if you're ready. And we're seeing it in 3D. Absolutely. I'll buy the candy. Actually, I'll buy it at a 99 cent store and we'll sneak it in. :)

  16. Give the prozac time sometimes it can take up to two or three weeks to feel a difference.

  17. 3D, YES. I normally hate 3D but Avatar is amazing in it and you won't notice the 3 hours, swearsies. I read 300 pages a day on average. Absolute trash, romance novels so I am too ashamed to even bother telling you which ones. They are all pretty damn good. I call them bubble gum for the brain. If I don't chew them up The Crazy takes over. My husband knows they are the only things that keep me sane so he ignores they exist. It all seems to work well in the end.
