Proof that he used to be nice.

The Husband used this piece of paper to write down a recipe for chicken soup. Seven years ago. I've never seen it, I never saved it, but there I was, just a moment ago, clearing away a stack of papers on my desk and there it sat as if waiting to catch my eye.

Just a couple days after The Husband and I moved in together, I became ill and was stuck in bed for days. The Husband searched for and wrote down a recipe and then made chicken soup from scratch. Yes, the same man who's idea of cooking is popping a frozen chicken patty in the microwave and spreading Miracle Whip on top MADE ME CHICKEN SOUP FROM SCRATCH.

That was seven years ago. I am totally having this framed.

  1. What is it they say.....it's the little things that make it special. My ex never made soup for me when I was sick......hmmm, could be one of the reasons he is an "ex". :)

  2. And all this time you never knew. That is the sweetest thing EVER. Agreed, I would so keep that recipe.

  3. Shortly after we were married, a former roommate of my husband's asked me if he'd made me his "special toffee brownies" yet. Apparently, he used to make them all the time for his roommates. Me? Not so much.He actually made some last weekend when friends came over. Still not for me, and SIX YEARS after that former roommate asked about them.

  5. That is so sweet! I wonder why you found it now? How funny that you never saw it before! My husband knew how to cook when I met him but forgot promptly when we moved in together. What is it with these men?!

  7. It's funny to come back and see my bitter little comment amongst all these "that's so sweet" ones.I suspect that I must be projecting something into this situation.

  8. Alias Mother, he MARRIED you. He probably thought that was better than brownies. Men. They don't know anything.

  9. I love how he wrote the recipe down in some sort of shorthand. I especially like "& skim junk off top." I think this would be very sweet framed and hung in your kitchen.I also think it's no coincidence that you happened on this piece of paper now. I don't know what it means, I just don't believe in coincidences.
