The only thing that makes me feel better about packing away my books is knowing that I'll eventually get to take them out and grope 'em a bit when I put them all back up again.
The packing has started. Actually, I wouldn't call it "packing" so much as "let's empty all the closets into one room and see what we've got!" Seriously, I think I may have gone about this all wrong.
Our unused living room is now a landfill full of boxes, an astonishing amount of Christmas decorations and so many knick-knacks from our respective childhoods that I can't even begin to count how many times I've shouted "why do we still have this?!"
The number of boxes set aside to await the move, after just one day, is staggering.
I really have a love hate relationship with moving. I do enjoy seeing all my knick knacks that I've stashed over the years, but I hate the physical labor part.Check out my blog cause there's something special for you :)K, it's one of those blog awards, aka blog chain letters, and I wont be sad if you don't post the image on your blog because I kinda think you might not be into that BUT I hope I'm able to bring you some new readers! ReplyDeleteIt always took me forever to pack when I moved because I would find a book I hadn't looked at in some time and read through it....or find some photos....or something that I would spend time with. Meanwhile, packing was at a standstill. :) Amazing what you can accumulate in a small amount of time.
ReplyDeletePacking has it's upsides, now is the time to pull out all the unused garbage and GET RID OF IT. If you haven't used it in years you don't need it. Aren't you downsizing apartments? You're going to have to lose the trash, seriously.

I enjoy going through everything, I enjoy everything being organized, etc... but the physical labor, the temporary mess that ensues... no thanks. Gayle, I can't wait for the moment when everything is packed away and we're finally done. And we can just sit and relax and enjoy our new place. Sigh.Spruce Hill, this is true. ReplyDeleteI so feel your pain. I moved twice this year and it will probably take an atomic bomb to blast me out of the place where I landed. But you're so right on both counts - excellent opportunity to purge and welcoming your treasures on the other side and escorting them to their new living place is particularly gratifying. best of luck!
