13.1-13.5/52
Sometimes I walk outside at just the right time, when the light is just so beautiful. And I want to capture it so bad but, unfortunately, all I get are pictures like these. BORING. (Don't worry, only half were taken while I was driving.) (Don't tell my mom.)

There's this block of restaurants, shops and other small businesses that are slowly closing up and moving on. I believe the owners want to tear down and rebuild bigger and better. One or two occupied spaces continue to hold on until their lease runs out, but for the most part, you have a virtual ghost town with one empty building after another. It's creepy. I happened upon this one this morning while out for a walk. I only hope they let everyone out first.

11/52
Things have not improved. Despite the increased daylight hours and the long moments spent doing absolutely nothing, I didn't take a single picture this week. (I did, however, manage to finish a couple of books. Natch.) Then I got to church and realized the sun was setting, I was running out of time, and I had to DO SOMETHING. Thus, this sign. Happy 35th Anniversary, Saddleback Church.

B-b-b-boring! There wasn't a single interesting photo in the whole batch I took while sailing on Saturday. (Where "sailing" means just a cruise around the harbor, mom! because if it was up to my mother, we'd be halfway to Hawaii by now.) All these boring photos got me to thinking about this stupid photo project I started at the beginning of the year and all the stupid photo projects I've started at all the beginnings of all the years and it finally occurred to me that it's not just being a quitter that prevents me from finishing what I start... it's boredom. With 42 more weeks to go, I gotta do something more exciting than this, otherwise I see failure in my future and there's been enough of that, thank you very much.

I was sitting in the middle of a Q&A event with Anthony "Rumble" Johnson on Friday afternoon and as I watched the people around me with their cell phones and cameras, it occurred to me that I didn't need to take pictures because THEY ALREADY EXIST. So I stopped. And now all I have to show for our long weekend running around to various events for UFC184 is this very boring photo of some buildings in downtown Los Angeles. Because I love you.
