The WTF post.

I'm a procrastinator. I might even go so far as to say I'm the world's very best procrastinator. But who wants to hold that title?

There's this THING that's needed my attention for a long time. I'm talking years, peeps. YEARS. (I told you I was the best.) I finally made an appointment to take care of said THING which means that, as I type this, wheels are in motion. And you don't know what a relief that is.

Oddly enough, I feel wretched. In fact, after receiving The Husband's incredibly supportive e-mail (in response to mine which briefly explained the details and "I know this is going to cost a bit of money, but please be supportive."), I cried. No, I'm not sitting here flooding the office, but there was definite leakage of the eyes.

I don't know why this makes me so emotional. Wait. Yes, I do. Because this THING has caused a lot of embarrassment and anxiety since I was a teenager. And because I'm going to be thirty soon (soon enough) and dealing with this as an adult is somehow even worse. And because The Husband's e-mail, while, again, totally supportive, just made me realize that I've been a complete fool for thinking I was doing even a remotely sufficient job of controlling the situation.

It makes me sad to know I've treated myself this way.

I'm not ready to share all the deets with the WWW, but I will say this: as soon as it's done (which will most likely be an entire year from now), I'm totally going camping. IN A TENT.

  1. In a tent, huh? I took my hubby camping once, in a tent. The trip was a complete disaster. And the tent leaked. Needless to say if we go camping again, we'll rent a little cabin or have an rv or something that wont leak if it happens to rain.

  2. Theresa, don't tell me that! You're supposed to tell me how much fun you had and how I'm missing out! As long as we can build a campfire and make s'mores, I'll be happy. ;)

  3. I was going to guess some sort of plastic surgery, such as a boob job or other stuff done(you live in CA anyway)just kidding. But then the part about camping in a tent stumped me. Gosh now you'll have everyone guessing your secret. Kudos to you for making this big step, whatever it may be!

  4. Good for you for finally addressing this issue - even if you are a HUGE tease!!

  5. I am a procrastinator, too. It’s a bad habit I can’t seem to shake – like an addiction or a disease. The thing is, most of the time, you get away with it. In fact, it can have upsides (Like getting a dress on sale!).I’m so glad you set the wheels in motion. It obviously took courage. So a big thumbs up!

I too am a procrastinator. Often I put things off until there is no more time to do what I've been putting off. I'm currently taking college classes and wait until the day the huge paper is due to write the paper, this usually goes hand in hand with crying and beating myself up about how I shouldn't wait til the last minute, yet I continue to do it every time. So don't feel bad I'm right next to you accepting the "procrastination award". Anyways hope everything is going well with your "thing"... I've got no clue...tent HUH?! Mmmm s'mores!!! try dark chocolate!-L

  9. Getting things started is often harder then actually getting them done...though I'm not sure about your thing. Good to read you have support in your husband.

  10. Last time I went camping was about 10 years ago, in a tent, and it rained almost the whole time and the tent leaked and we had to move our tent three times in three days and it was the vacation from hell. I don't know why you would want to go camping, lol. Remember the trip when I yelled at you when we were supposed to be having a nice trip in a raft??

  11. I'm with anti-tent people. Whenever I sleep in a tent I end up with a rock in my back and it rains. Which means I wake up at 3AM in a puddle. And then I listen to raccoons ravaging my food stash. But, you know, keep the dream alive.

  12. Hmmm, I wonder if this could have anything to do with a comment you left on my blog. I think it fits with the being able to go camping when you're done.

  13. I love tent camping! I'm thinking that's my plan for Memorial Day. Though I cheat on the s'mores and make them with Reese's instead. Mmmm...

  14. Well good luck with what ever it is you are getting done!I really do not like camping either. Just did it this weekend and remembered how damp it always is!

  15. Camping is awesome! I hope that whatever this is isn't too serious, and moreover I hope that when it's taken care of (and kudos to you for taking care of it, there are plenty of people who don't ever take charge of their lives) you enjoy camping. It's great. The quintessential camping experience with smores and scrambled eggs and campfires and tents and the like? Great. The backpacking camping experience with bear boxes and freeze-dried food and maps and compasses? Great. The rock climbing camping experience with ropes that hang you off a cliff?Scary as hell, but still pretty damned great. So enjoy it, enjoy ALL OF IT, it's definitely worth striving for =)
