Cranberry Oatmeal White Chocolate Chunk Cookies

I made these cookies because I have a burning desire to please everyone.

Okay, actually I made them because I saw the recipe on the back of a bag of Craisins and thought best of both worlds. I don't know what's up with my addiction to fruit lately (specifically in my dessert), but add chocolate to the mix and I'm a goner.

And, I've never told anyone this before, but while I was growing up, I didn't like white chocolate. I know! I'm much smarter now.

These were pretty good even if I couldn't get the timing or oven temperature right. (Yes, I followed directions, thank you very much. My bottoms still darkened much too fast.)

Although, and I hate to say this, but... they just might have been better without the Craisins. They just tasted a bit too similar to raisins and (I realize I will get shit for this next statement) I just don't care for raisins in my oatmeal cookies. Or anywhere else for the matter. Raisins? No, thank you.

But, in case these are right up your alley, here's the recipe.

  1. Oh those look sooo tasty! You can avoid the brown bottoms easier if you cook on stone baking pans. I'm kinda dissappointed that the craisins didn't taste cranberry-y and tasted raisin-y instead. I like raisins in my oatmeal cookies but I think craisins would make happier in this recipe. Oh and I didn't like white choc chips when I was younger either.

  2. I'm gaining weight just reading your blog. Amazing. Miss Carol keeps threatening to make your recipes and I keep telling her I'm fat enough, but, damn it looks good.

  8. Now see this is a fruit dessert that I can get behind. I doubt I will make them because the Alias Father feels the same way you do about raisins. Which I don't understand. Raisins are delicious little nuggets of healthiness.Oooohhhh... maybe the healthy thing is the problem? That's undoubtedly AF's issue with them.

  9. I like raisins out of the box. Period. They are yuck in any cooked/baked thing. But without them, these cookies sound amazing!

  10. Okay, these cookies are good. Please don't let me deter anyone from baking them. (I mean, I ate six of them last night while I was baking the last of them to bring to work and even now they're sitting here staring at me and I'm having a hard time resisting.) I think it's really just a matter of not really caring for anything (besides chocolate, of course) in my oatmeal cookies. I mean, you all know how much I love cranberries in just about everything. Yes, I definitely think it's oatmeal cookie specific. (The white chocolate, though? Wow.)

  11. They look good Stephanie! I usually will make the Toll House recipe but add some oatmeal to the recipe - gives it a little more "substance" in my opinion. I just may try these out! They look delish.
